Lunches and Snacks
At our setting, we promote healthy eating habits in line with early years guidance, supporting children to develop positive attitudes towards food and lifelong wellbeing. We provide a range of healthy snacks each day, including fresh fruit, vegetables, wholegrain options, and milk or water. These are carefully chosen to give children the energy they need to play, learn, and grow, while encouraging them to make healthy choices from an early age.
We work in partnership with parents to support balanced packed lunches, encouraging ideas that include a variety of food groups such as fruit, vegetables, protein, and healthy carbohydrates. We kindly ask that sugary snacks and drinks are avoided in line with healthy eating guidelines. This consistent approach between home and nursery helps children understand what a healthy diet looks like and supports their overall development.
Our healthy eating approach is also closely linked to our tooth brushing campaign, helping children understand the importance of caring for their teeth as part of good oral hygiene. We promote regular brushing and healthy food choices to reduce sugar intake and build positive daily routines. Through these experiences, children learn the importance of looking after their bodies, supporting both their health and wellbeing in a fun and engaging way.
